At the heart of ICL is the belief that young people do not need to wait until adulthood to make a meaningful difference in the world. Students are capable of leading initiatives, inspiring others, serving their communities, building organizations, creating art, launching ideas, and using their talents to positively influence the lives of others. Through mentorship, education, and real-world opportunities, ICL encourages students to see themselves not simply as future leaders, but as active contributors whose voices, passions, and actions matter today.
RESPECTING TRADITION
Curriculum and character development have been at the heart of ICL since the beginning.
In 2001, ICL developed an award-winning, two-week youth leadership curriculum. It was taught as an accredited elective, as a summer leadership program, and produced with non-profit partners. However, we knew that we wanted to scale our offering to provide a more permanent, flexible solution for students.
EMBRACING TOMORROW
We have shifted away from the ‘1-size-fits-all’,
text-based education model.
In 2016, ICL Academy launched as a fully accredited online middle and high school with a bold vision for the future of education. From the beginning, the Academy was designed not simply to replicate the traditional classroom online, but to reimagine what learning could look like in a rapidly evolving digital world. Powered by technology, dynamic multimedia learning experiences, and personalized instruction, ICL Academy was built around the understanding that every student learns differently—and that education should adapt to the student, not the other way around.
The Academy’s educational model is designed to recognize each student’s unique learning style, strengths, interests, goals, and passions. Whether a student is pursuing elite athletics, creative arts, entrepreneurship, academic excellence, or emerging opportunities within the creator economy, ICL provides an environment where education supports and amplifies those pursuits rather than forcing students to choose between school and passion.
Through live instruction, project-based learning, multimedia content, collaborative experiences, mentorship, and innovative digital tools, students engage with education in ways that feel relevant, interactive, and connected to the real world. Rather than relying solely on memorization or standardized approaches, ICL supports students to think critically, solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learning journey.
